Interactive map of RFC, RNAS and RAF bases

When the Royal Flying Corps was formed in 1912 it used existing army bases and small aerodromes. During the First World War further bases were developed according to need, location and sometimes due to land being gifted to the military.

Over time the RAF has opened and closed bases according to need and suitability. During the Second World War and the early years of the Cold War hundreds of bases existed all across the UK. The map on this page plots all the RFC, RNAS and RAF bases from the First World War to today.
